                                                              SAY NO TO DRUGS

Hello, my name is Art Widen; I live in Romeoville, Illinois as a professional magician and magician clown with 17 years of experience. I am also finishing my sixth year as a substitute in the public and Catholic schools.

I have put together a [ SAY NO TO DRUGS ] presentation that fits into a "class period".  It can be easily adjusted to a 30 minute to a 50 minute magical lecture show.

DETAILS OF THE LECTURE:

  • Introduction of who I am and purpose of my appearance

     
  • Short history of what street drugs are, why people take them, and the consequences [ 1 minute ]

     
  • List the drugs into 6 categories
    * Depressants      * Narcotics      * Inhalants
    * Stimulants     * Hallucinogens   * Designer Drugs

     
  • Each category is covered with:
    * Description of the effect on your body
    * Legal name
    * What it is called on the street
    * What it looks like
    * How it is used
    * The actual name of the drug.

This all sounds very boring, but as a magician clown, I use magic to liven up the "SAY NO TO DRUGS" presentation.

Example:  If you were drunk on alcohol your thinking would not be clear.  If I were to tear up a sheet from a newspaper into little pieces, it would be impossible to put it together, but being under the influence of alcohol you  would see the sheet of newspaper actually be restored.

Example:   Three ropes of different sizes { long, medium and short }
                  all become the same size and then all become into one piece.

Example:  I Tie a rope around a child's arm and pull the rope thru while hearing his bones crack. [ It is just a trick. ]

Example: Wooden rabbits changing places under impossible conditions

Example: Giant card tricks { for easy view } for the older children

Example: Two children are each holding the ends of a 8 foot piece                 
of rope.  The rope is cut in half and a knot is tied, magically the slip knot slips to the end of the rope.

The magic tricks are on the comedy side with audience participation.  

NOTE:  Not all the above information can be given in the time allowed with all the magic tricks that I would like to perform.  The magic lecture will be adjusted to the time allowed and audience participation.

Art Widen will perform an affordable comedy magic / clown show with magic tricks appropriate for the age level of the audience.  Six to eight volunteers will be picked  from the audience to assist the clown with the magic.  All clown performances are suited for the age level and non-offensive.
